SAE is exploring renewal education for Utah dentists and practical team learning. We are confirming curriculum, delivery format and state acceptance before any course can open.
Proposed education on assessment, enteral pharmacology, monitoring and escalation. Curriculum and accepted hours remain under review.
Planned topics: state renewal context; patient assessment; enteral medication risks; monitoring; emergency recognition; case-based review. Assessment and completion methods will be validated before launch.
Proposed didactic learning on evaluation, monitoring, rescue readiness and documentation. Required cases remain separate from online education.
Planned topics: risk assessment; pharmacology; monitoring and deterioration; airway and rescue principles; team scenarios; records. SAE will not treat viewed or simulated cases as completed clinical cases.
Potential general education in communication, roles and emergency escalation. It would not certify expanded functions or clinical skill.
SAE is researching an emergency education course for moderate sedation permit renewal and a separate assistant monitoring pathway. Course-specific acceptance and delivery rules must be confirmed first.
Proposed education on prevention, recognition, response and team drills. Board approval for this exact course has not been established.
Planned topics: risk assessment; early recognition; airway emergencies; cardiovascular and medication events; team roles; integrated scenarios. Adult and pediatric qualification remain distinct.
Potential training for eligible dental assistants. Ohio’s rule requires a qualifying sponsor, course, examination, BLS and experience; this concept is not an authorization to administer nitrous oxide.
Planned topics include pain and anxiety, respiration, nitrous effects, monitoring, complications, exposure and legal boundaries. SAE must verify specialized sponsor and online-delivery eligibility.
Potential general education for practice teams. It would not replace credentialing, supervision or hands-on requirements.
Tell SAE your state, role and the education you need. We will use this feedback to decide where to research next. No course, date or state acceptance is being promised.
