Texas State Board of Dental Examiner Questions

For dentists with a Level 1 sedation permit, the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE) requires 6 CE hours focused on minimal sedation every two years. For those holding a Level 2 sedation permit, 8 CE hours on moderate sedation are necessary. These CE hours must cover the administration of sedation and medical emergencies associated with the level of sedation permitted. Our courses for Level 1 and Level 2 sedation permit renewal meet these requirements, ensuring you stay compliant with TSBDE standards.

Sedation permits in Texas must be renewed every two years, concurrently with the dental license renewal. The renewal process confirms the dentist's eligibility to continue practicing sedation dentistry under TSBDE regulations. Our renewal courses for Level 1 and Level 2 pediatric sedation are specifically designed to fulfill the TSBDE's continuing education requirements, simplifying the renewal process for you.

Yes, dentists with any level of sedation permit, including Level 1 and Level 2, are required to pass the TSBDE's online jurisprudence examination on Anesthesia and Sedation (Chapter 110) once every five years. This examination ensures that permit holders are up-to-date with the latest anesthesia and sedation guidelines and practices.

For Level 1 Minimal Sedation permit renewal, dentists must maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Level 2 Moderate Sedation permit holders need both BLS and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications, with Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required for those treating children under 13. Our renewal courses incorporate these emergency management training requirements, providing comprehensive education that aligns with TSBDE regulations.

Sedation and Anesthesia Education of Texas (SAE) closely monitors TSBDE regulations and updates our curriculum accordingly to ensure our courses meet or exceed the state board's standards for sedation permit renewal. Our courses are designed by experienced dental anesthesia professionals, focusing on practical application, patient safety, and regulatory compliance. By choosing SAE for your CE needs, you're ensuring that your sedation practice remains compliant and up-to-date with Texas regulations.
